Careers @ CCHS & Sigma Sixth

Clacton County High School view careers guidance and inspiration as integral to the work throughout the school.   Our vision is to develop a learning community that broadens horizons and raises aspirations through meaningful and powerful links and contact with employers and local businesses.  Learners will develop and apply a range of employability skills throughout their time in school and sixth form, as well as developing knowledge and research skills to ensure future pathways are fully informed and allow a clear sense of direction.

We aim to help our students, through various careers and work related activities and interventions to be able to:

  • Develop their understanding of themselves in relation to future learning and employment opportunities.
  • Encourage parent and carer engagement in events and activities
  • Learn and experience careers and the world of work
  • Develop their career management and employability skills

The impact of the career programme offered at CCHS is measured and assessed through the Government's standard Gatsby Benchmark process which is reviewed every 3 months.

  • A stable careers programme –
  • Learning from career and labour market information –
  • Addressing the needs of each pupil –
  • Linking curriculum learning to careers –
  • Encounters with employers and employees –
  • Experiences of workplaces –
  • Encounters with further and higher education –
  • Personal guidance –
