Students interested in studying A Level History develop a wide range of skills that stand them in good stead in many higher education degree courses and career paths, particularly those that require analysis of problems, attention to detail and the ability to research and present facts. As a result, A Level History complements many other subjects.
The course encourages students to progress their interest and enthusiasm for the subject, take a more in-depth and detailed look at significant historic events, making links and drawing comparisons within and/or across different periods and aspects of the past.
Assessment in the course: 20% Topic Essay and 80% exam. There are 3 papers to sit for the A2 qualification.
Students need to have achieved a minimum of 6 grades 5-9 incl. English and Maths and should be aiming to achieve a minimum grade 6 in GCSE History.
